This past Saturday our dear friends, Holly, and Chuck, invited us out to one of several rental properties they own. This particular property is located in Buckeye Arizona. The house on the property is empty right now, but the property has lots of land and lots and lots of fruit trees and shade trees that need to be watered regularly.
And, I mean lots of land and lots of trees.
Since the property is so large, irrigation is used as the watering system to deliver enough water to all the grass and trees. The whole process takes about three hours. Holly and Chuck had been given the water rights from 3-6 p.m. on Saturday, but Holly told me if we would like to come out at around 2:30 p.m. we could pick any fruit we wanted before the water arrived.
We picked grapes,
and yellow figs…OMG I never heard of yellow figs, but they are delicious.
There were apples,
Pears,
And so much more…
Holly and Chuck take their two precious grandsons, Aidan,
and Tyrsson
with them, and when the irrigation water arrives, those two boys have the time of their lives playing in all that water.
They even have an inflatable boat they ride in when the water gets deep enough! Throughout the afternoon, as we sat on the porch, we enjoyed the laughter and squeals of the children playing. What fun childhood memories Holly and Chuck are helping to make for their beautiful grandchildren…
But, when all that water activity makes you hungry…you go take your water boots off and put your rubber sandals on,
and grandma Holly sets you up with lunch…
At one point, the older grandson, Aidan, showed me how many teeth he’s lost. I asked him if the tooth fairy came and brought him money? He said, “yes, of course.” I asked him what the going rate was now for teeth and he told me $5.00! I said $5.00 for such little teeth? He said “yes”. So I asked him if he thought I could get at least $10.00 for my teeth when they fall out since I am older and my teeth are bigger? Aidan looked up at me and said “no, that wouldn’t be right”. I said “well, would you talk to your dad and see if he can talk to the tooth fairy and see if I could get $10.00 for my teeth? Aidan said “I’m not going to do that….but I will ask my dad to ask the tooth fairy to give you the same amount as I get.” What and precious, precious child…
Thank you Holly and Chuck for sharing your beautiful grandchildren, and your delicious fruit with us. It made for a lovely, fun-filled afternoon. 🙂
Stay tuned!
