That’s Our Girl

This week has been devoted to getting back into the rhythm of my “normal” life after my New York/Vermont vacation. That meant wrapping my mind around the fact that Bella, my alternate personality from New York/Vermont, was not about to do any work around here. No, Bella took one look at what all Virginia does and said “call me when it’s time for happy hour!” With that, I decided I better just grab this bull by the horns and jump right in with the cooking, cleaning, laundry, and getting mom’s taxi service up and running again…

Wednesday morning was cold. Like 50 degrees cold at 5:00 a.m. I told Shantel while she was getting ready for school to dress warm because it was cold out and there were 45 mph wind gusts. She said “I know, I heard the news.” So, I didn’t say anymore about it. But when she came out in her little short shorts and a tank top, I thought to myself “OMG girl, you are going to freeze your ass off!” I was dressed in long pants, long-sleeved shirt and had a jacket… However, I kept my thoughts to myself.

When we arrived at school, I couldn’t stand it anymore so I said to Shantel “Everyone I see walking around on this campus is wearing long jeans, boots, jackets, and even hats!” Shantel never missed a step as she was walking beside me when she said “I don’t care what they think, what have any of them done of any significance that gives them the right to judge me?” I cracked-up and said “If Bella were here she would agree with you completely, but since she isn’t here, I have to say we don’t know what any of them have done of any significance, I guess it would depend on your definition of significance, but they are all dressed warm.” With that, Shantel smiled and said “well, if what I’m wearing bothers you, why don’t you let Bella out?”

That’s our girl, and I’ve missed her… 🙂

Stay Tuned!

That was some first day at home getting back in your routine of things. Sounds like Shantel likes Bella’s personality a little. So hard to believe Shantel has become such an independent young lady. .

Yes, Aunt Ellen, sometimes I think Shantel likes Bella better than Virginia now…but of course Virginia is the mom that is entrusted with giving guidance and direction…Bella is just all about having fun…something Shantel was not always used to seeing in me as she was growing up and I needed all my focus and attention to getting her needs met both at school and at home… but watch out now that Bella has arrived…!.. 🙂
