Day Six And Five

Of the ten-day countdown to our daughter, Shantel, moving to her own apartment.

Yesterday, Saturday, was the big moving out B-B-Q party for Shantel. Shantel bought this adorable dress for the special occasion.

Seems like every picture I have of Shantel she is standing in the same place… she always loves to sit in that little chair behind her so usually when I want a picture of her that is where I find her…

I told my husband, Bill/Bro, that I was going to take pictures of the house before the party when everything was nice and pretty,

and asked him if he wouldn’t mind to take some pictures throughout the party as things got into full swing. I asked him to try to get a couple of pictures with Shantel and I  together… he agreed… 🙂

Bill/Bro was outside cooking the hamburgers and brats while I was inside making the sautéed peppers and onions to go with the brats… We had chips and dips, hamburgers and brats, black bean salad and potato salad… Family and friends came to help us let Shantel know how proud we are of her graduating college with two degrees, and we all wished her well in her new apartment… However, I’m sorry to say that we have only a few pictures of some of that…

Bill forgot to take any pictures, and by the time I realized he wasn’t taking pictures, the cake had already been cut and this is what was left.

It was a pretty cake with a peace sign on it which is what Shantel requested.

Shantel said it was REEEEL good and wasted no time digging right in more than a few times…

I was able to capture a picture of our dear friend Chuck (behind Shantel), he is my sister by choice, Holly’s husband. Holly doesn’t like to have her picture taken so I respect that.

Our friends and family made themselves comfortable both inside and outside our home, and I had the opportunity to mix and mingle with everyone. I even captured this picture of my two cousins, Tracie on the right, and Jill on the left, out on the patio.

They are both delightful and always have so much FUN together.

Jill’s partner, Crystal, offered to take a picture of Tracie, Jill, and I together so of course I couldn’t pass that up.

I so enjoyed spending time with everyone and look forward to getting together again soon.

Shantel said she had a great time and very much appreciated everyone coming together to give her such a nice send off!

Today, Sunday (Day Five), of the ten-day countdown, Shantel is working like a beaver trying to get all her laundry done so she can pack most of her clothes. Bill is making homemade chili. One of Shantel’s favorites. I asked him to make a big pot of chili so we could have it again one night during the week as I will be helping Shantel move her things to her new apartment, and helping her get her apartment set up just the way she wants it to be. We pick up the keys in the morning, spend the week getting things all set up and she spends her first night in her new home on Friday…. It doesn’t get any more real that!!!

As I’m sitting here writing this blog post I’m smelling the beautiful smell of some handmade soaps my cousin Tracie makes and brought over yesterday for all the women at the B-B-Q party. Look how adorable these are. There is one lavender, one white tea/ginger, and one honey almond. They even say handmade right across the top. And they all smell wonderful!!!

Tracie even included the ingredients of each soap so everyone knows what they are using. Thank you so much Tracie for sharing your beautiful handmade soaps with us.

I want to take this opportunity to say thank you to all my family, friends, and anyone who reads my blog for all your continued show of love and support throughout the years. I am truly blessed to have so many wonderful people in my life and I love and treasure the relationship I have with each and every one of you. Being a mother is one of the hardest jobs a woman will ever love, and being the mother of a child with special needs presents it own unique set of challenges and rewards. All I can say is THANK YOU one and all. You’ll never know how much your love, friendship, time, advice and words of comfort and support have meant to me.  It really does take a Village, and I sure wouldn’t have wanted to do this without you.

Stay Tuned!

So glad you all had such a fun time. The cake looks good and is chocolate my favorite too. Sounds like this week is going to busy for you. I can’t wait to hear about all the activities of the move. Chili sounds like a great meal. Thanks for sharing.

Oh, Bill, YOU, above all, are my hero, and I know you agree that Shantel is a true HERO to both of us. I love you so much, and I am so thankful that you and I took this life journey together to raise Shantel. If I had it to do all over again, I would in a minute as long as I had you by my side. We did it Babe…!!! And now, it’s back to me and you and that “dog named blue” and of course, our Princess cat, named Carmen… I love you!
