The past week has been challenging to say the least. My mother has not been doing well so I have been spending a lot more time with her than I usually do. She has been very confused, frustrated, and experiencing episodes of not being aware of her surroundings, and insisting things are happening that in reality are not… Her doctor says it’s all part of the progression of her Parkinson’s and other age related issues…
One example, among many this past week, was that mom decided the apartment complex she can see from the window across the hall from her room is really a ski resort and insisted I sit with her and watch the people ski down the mountain and into the pebbles on the ground. What she thinks is a ski lift is really the steps people use to get up and down going to and from the second floor apartments. I tried to explain that to mom but she would have none of it so I sat and watched the people with her and agreed that it was a great ski lift… we even laughed talking about how funny it was that the people would ski without snow…
When I wasn’t siting with my mother, trying to keep her calm and focused on some reality… I also made several trips to our daughter, Shantel’s, apartment to help her get her groceries and took her to and from several appointments she had this past week. Shantel lives 23 miles from our home and her appointments were scattered all around town so lots and lots of driving time was involved…
In addition to trying to help my mother and daughter, I hadn’t been feeling too well myself… I am happy to say all the stresses of the past week have worked out. My mother has settled down, at least for now, and Shantel doesn’t have any more appointments for the next two weeks, except of course for taking her to get groceries. That is an every week event… And, I am now feeling much better myself.
Yesterday, Saturday, was date day for my husband, Bill, and I, and it just so happened to be his turn to plan our date afternoon… What a thrill it was to find out he purchased tickets to our local Hale Centre Theatre in Gilbert which is practically in our own backyard. I love the Hale Centre Theatre because it is small and intimate and supports our local talents…
Bill and I saw The Miracle Worker there and decided this little theatre was one of our favorites… But when I asked Bill what made him decide to come to the theatre for this date day, he said he thought after such a tough and stressful week…, we just needed to “cut loose” with a little showing of the Broadway Musical, Footloose!!!
And “cut loose” we did… 🙂 🙂 it was the perfect beginning to a perfect date… 🙂
Thanks Bill, your my HERO!
Stay Tuned!

We had a wonderful time at footloose, and what a great job the actors did, singing ,dancing and the way they brought the story to life.
