When my family moved into our home here in Chandler Arizona two and a half years ago, our front yard had a total of thirteen flowering bushes. Thirteen bushes that would grow like wild-fire and need trimmed and shaped every other week or so in order to keep a well manicured curb appeal. Once the thirteen bushes were trimmed and shaped, all the trimming had to be gathered up and put into lawn bags and sent off to the trash. After all the trimmings were picked up, then of course the yard blower had to come out and blow away any remaining droppings. In short, it was a lot of hard work to keep those bushes looking nice and neat and orderly, not only for our own personal liking, but also out of respect for our neighbors that keep their yards neat and clean and looking nice…
With our daughter, Shantel, in college, and every extra penny going to help her with her college needs, we didn’t want to pay someone to come and maintain the bushes for us So, Bill took care of them on his days off which was never a fun experience for him. In addition, Bill and I could never really wrap our minds around why anyone in their right mind would ever plant thirteen bushes in their front yard…, But Bill did the best he could to keep them well maintained.
However, after two and a half years of constant maintenance of those thirteen bushes… we decided enough is enough. Bill was getting REAL tired of keeping those bushes up, and I for sure was not about to let that become my new job… So, Bill pulled every last one of them out, leaving the front yard bare like a new canvas for us to create our own landscape to our own personal liking and desires…
We went out and bought this adorable tortoise.
And this tilted welcoming pot.
And added this half barrel we already had and filled all of the pots with colorful Lantana’s.
Now our yard is colorful, neat, and clean, and we think it is just beautiful and perfect for our busy lifestyles… 🙂 🙂
